- It is well-known in the brigade here that the first fire cover in East Wittering was provided by two brothers in the village and the Saturday Weekly News on 2nd. Nov. 1935 included a photo and article appealing for secondhand uniforms and equipment so that Jack and Jim Steel could keep going. Exact location unknown, but it looks like a domestic garage

Not marked on available maps August 2013, but Parish Room is shown on 1933 1:2500 OS map, opposite Royal Oak pub on Stocks Lane. This may have been the location, but need confirmation |
